The traditional Christmas songs are given an upbeat, contemporary arrangement without losing the essence of their original sounds. I prefer when traditional songs are given the artist’s style and signature, without having to be completely rewritten until there are only snippets of the original left, and Frank has done a nice job of this. Frank’s original composition for the collection, I Will Be Christmas, concludes the set nicely. I like it much better than many of the original Christmas songs written by some of the “big name” artists out there, both secular and Christian. While I may not have the best ears, either from a physiological standpoint or an audiophile standpoint, the collection had the sound of a professional recording. The vocals and instrumentals are clean and balanced, and the sound level consistent. My impression from Frank’s post here is that he produced this collection himself, but he didn’t cut corners on the quality. I’ve bought albums from the big, mainstream music publishers before that weren’t as well-done as this one. It’s great knowing, as well, that Frank believes what he’s singing. This isn’t one of those Christmas albums from a secular artist that barely acknowledges God the rest of the year, but figures singing about God and Jesus at Christmas is a good business move. Well worth the ten bucks. I plan on posting the link to Being Christmas on some of the other sites I visit.
